About Us

The scientifically prepared materials play a very important role in Montessori education. It develops the physical properties of the children and contributes to their intellectual development. Dr. Montessori mentioned, “Nothing comes to the intellect that is not first in the senses”.

About the School

We believe that early childhood holds the key to our development.

We are a Montessori school based on the principles of Dr Maria Montessori; a physician and educator, born in Italy in 1870; the first woman to become a medical graduate from the University of Rome. After years of experimentation and observation, she evolved a scientific and rational early childhood educational system that contributed to the physical as well as intellectual development of the child.

The Montessori Method is a way of educating the children through their experiences and their senses. Her educational methodology has been adopted in almost every country and is followed by unfailingly still. Through the Montessori Method, the children come to learning, it is not forced upon them. Children learn at their own speed, creating a deep knowledge base, confidence in their own intellect and independence.

About our History

Our founder, late Mrs. Mimi Guha, established Learning Tree Montessori House, 30 years ago, on 18th July 1989, based on Montessori’s pedagogy.

We started with only a handful of children. We have spent these years devoted to the principles of Montessori; educating ourselves, our students, and parents; ensuring that we create awareness about early childhood educational theory and what we do at Learning Tree.

Our beloved Mrs. Mimi Guha truly loved all students like her own children. We carry forward her ways of teaching and we hope to continue bringing joy to the students, teachers, and staff. Learning Tree began as a school devoted to Montessori traditions and learning and now is a home dedicated to our wonderful student and parent community.

About the Curriculum

Montessori education uses scientifically prepared materials or what we call apparatus to teach children language, mathematics, etc. These apparatuses help develop the child both physically and intellectually. Let’s give you a brief idea of the different parts that make up the whole experience.

Sensorial: We know that children first experience the world through their senses. Dr. Montessori said, “Nothing comes to the intellect that is not first in the senses”. In our Montessori environment, we have a wide range of sensorial materials designed to help the children develop their senses. The children will gain the ability to make judgements, to compare and discriminate on the basis of size, weight, texture and colour, taste, temperature, smell etc.

Culture: The cultural materials help the children develop an awareness of the world in which they live; through the knowledge of geography, history, science, art, music, botany, biology, etc.

Mathematics: With the help of the mathematical apparatus, the children learn the basic rules of mathematics, and acquire the concepts through concrete activities.

Language: The language materials develop communicating, listening, reading, and writing skills. We conduct many exercises to facilitate language development along with inculcating an interest in reading.  Our medium of instruction is English.

Independence: Children are helped towards independence as early as possible so that they can function by themselves and within a group. Here the children grow up close to nature and achieve harmony with it, learn to take care of themselves as well as of the environment and develop their social awareness.

Keeping these principles in mind, we have designed our environment to suit your child’s needs. Your child will be in the care of trained Montessori educators with years of teaching experience. The teaching conducted is based purely on Montessori principles using the Montessori apparatus, with special emphasis on sensorial, linguistic, and mathematical development.

About our Environment

Keeping Montessori principles in mind, we have designed our environment to suit your child’s needs.

The teaching conducted is based purely on Montessori principles using the Montessori apparatus, with special emphasis on sensorial, linguistic, and mathematical development. Our environments are extensions of our homes—comforting and loving.

Along with the intellectual development of the child, we take great interest in their physical development. Our spacious playground is equipped with all types of outdoor toys and games.

All our classrooms are air-conditioned for the comfort of the children.

05
About our Staff

We maintain a teacher to student ratio of 1:5 during each class, so that the children may receive individual attention. The Montessori system of teaching differs from the traditional teaching methods in the sense that it is a system that focuses on the individual capabilities of the child and caters to the same.

Our Montessori trained teachers serve as a dynamic link between the child and their environment. They do not interfere or obstruct the child’s self-development but direct and guide the child’s activities so that the child learns through experiences.

Your child will be in the care of trained Montessori educators with years of teaching experience.

Our helper didi’s are a part of the Learning Tree family and will ensure that your child is well-taken care of. Most of our teachers and staff have been with us from the very beginning…for about 30 years and counting.
